Our History

Founded by industry professionals with deep roots in offshore wind, Power Professionals Group was established to meet the growing demand for specialist support across renewable energy projects.

What began as a cable termination and manpower service has evolved into a multi-disciplinary group — trusted by developers, EPCs, and OEMs across Europe to support the delivery of complex energy infrastructure.

Lee Doran – CEO
With nearly 20 years in the offshore wind sector, Lee founded Power Professionals Group to raise the standard of delivery across energy projects. His background includes senior roles in project engineering, HV operations, and personnel management for major wind farm installations.

Lee leads a committed leadership team of engineers, operations managers, and technical writers — each with hands-on experience in their respective fields.

Lee Doran

Chief Executive Officer | Co-founder

Lee Doran is a seasoned electrical and mechanical engineer with over 25 years of experience in the offshore wind, energy, and marine sectors. As co-founder and CEO of Power Professionals Group, he blends strategic leadership with hands-on technical expertise, driving the company’s success in high-voltage cable installation, termination, testing and commissioning for some of Europe’s largest offshore wind projects.

Starting his career in the Royal Navy as a Leading Marine Engineer on nuclear submarines, Lee went on to hold senior roles with major industry leaders, including DONG Energy (now Orsted), Prysmian, Siemens, Vattenfall, E.ON, and Visser & Smit Hanab. His career spans the full lifecycle of offshore cable projects—from tendering and engineering coordination to offshore execution and quality assurance.

Today, Lee leads Power Professionals with a focus on operational excellence, innovation, and strong client relationships, while remaining actively involved in project delivery to ensure the highest standards of safety and technical performance.

Nicholas Watt

Nicholas Watt

Technical Executive Officer | Co-founder

Nicholas Watt is a chartered-minded professional engineer and the co-founder of Power Professionals Group, serving as the company’s Technical Executive Officer. With over a decade of hands-on experience across high-voltage cable installation, subsea infrastructure, and offshore wind construction, Nick brings a unique blend of engineering depth and operational strategy to the leadership team.

Since earning his BEng (Hons) in Civil Engineering from Heriot-Watt University in 2011, Nick has built an impressive career across Europe’s most complex energy projects. His journey spans high-voltage substation replacements, inter-array offshore cable systems, monopile foundation installations, and wind turbine generator (WTG) testing and commissioning. He has worked with industry leaders including Prysmian, Visser & Smit Hanab, E.ON, and Morrison Utility Services, holding roles from Graduate Project Engineer to Offshore Superintendent and Client Representative.

In his current role, Nick oversees the development and governance of technical standards across Power Professionals’ portfolio of onshore and offshore projects. He is deeply involved in project planning, risk mitigation, innovation, and quality assurance, with a focus on digitalising and optimising operational workflows—an initiative he pioneered during previous offshore campaigns.

Nick’s commitment to safety, performance, and team development is reflected in his certifications, which include GWO Sea Survival, HUET, IOSH Managing Safely and HSE qualifications. He is also a seasoned high-voltage cable testing and terminations professional, playing a key role in ensuring the safe and timely delivery of subsea installations across wind farms such as Yeu-Noirmoutier , St. Brieuc, and Arkona.

With a calm and solution-focused leadership style, Nick acts as a vital technical mentor within Power Professionals, supporting the development of emerging engineers and guiding the company’s growth within the renewable energy sector.

Graduate Engineer

Sam Watson is a graduate mechanical engineer who joined Power Professionals Group after completing a BEng (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering at Heriot-Watt University. As a Graduate Engineer at Power Professionals Group, he brings a strong interest in renewable energy and a commitment to developing technical expertise in high-voltage cable installation, termination, and data cabling.

Eager to begin his career in the energy sector, Sam is passionate about the role of renewables in building a sustainable future and is keen to expand his knowledge through hands-on onshore and offshore project experience. His focus is on learning from industry specialists, contributing to safe and efficient project delivery, and supporting the company’s reputation for technical excellence.
